The Lantana Community Association is excited to once again be hosting the Run Lantana 5K & 10K that will start and finish in the Lantana Community! This will be our 13th race and it is scheduled for Saturday, September 30th, 2023.

Enjoy the rolling hills and tour part of the hike and bike trail in Lantana as well as some of the surrounding neighborhoods and schools. This is a family event. We welcome runners and walkers of all ages!

The race beneficiary this year is our local Fire Department that serves Lantana - Denton County Emergency Services District No. 1.  Station 513 is located off of Copper Canyon Road in Lantana and currently houses an Engine Company staffed with 3 personnel 24/7. 

 

In 2022, Engine 513 responded to 838 incidents in Lantana, representing 25% of total call volume for Denton County ESD No. 1.  

 

Community outreach and public education in Lantana includes monthly visits to Harpool Middle School, career days at Lantana elementary schools, CPR kit drive thru events, 4th of July and Veteran parades, fire science camps, touch-a-truck events, Earth Day, fire safety/community helper presentations to preschools, leading National Walk & Bike to School Day, National Night Out, Fire Truck Santa, and many birthday drive-bys.

Proceeds from the Run Lantana 5k and 10k will support the health and wellness program of firefighters at Station 513 in Lantana.  Physical activity is incredibly important for firefighters to ensure that they are always prepared to respond to any emergency at a moment's notice. Two pieces of equipment that Run Lantana will support are the "Firesled" and "The Punisher" - both of which are used for physical conditioning and training to simulate real emergency rescues.
